What's possible with the retired GEMALTO GCR-5500D Cardreaders? | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Hi Folks, Cracks and Professionals ...

in kind of my (very personal) situation, i'm connected to some physicians and medical doctors, here in germay.

If we have some medical Administrators here too, they maybe knows that the cardreader device GEMALTO GCR-5500D are out of (m-)any medical networks, because there are not longer a valid device to read the newer KVK (insurance cards) here in germany.

It's an frequent question to me: "what can we do with the thing yet"?
"Is there still newer drivers for Windows 7, 8.1 and/or 10 available" and "is it possbile to use the Reader as a check in/out terminal for there employees"? And this are just two of there questions about these device. Some other aked me, if it's possible to use it as an Login-Decoder for there Windows 10 Workstations?!

Did this reader still work under Windows 10? For example with this software named "chipcard master"?If Yes, it should be possible read and save simcard phonebooks, for example.

Is there any other hint, trick or usefully information about this devices?

Sorry for my lousy english, but i hope it was good enough to get some tipps and ideas and i'm hopeing too, that i'm right at this forum to get some good solutions - and by the way: if it's possible some links where i can get drivers fpr Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 in 32 and 64bit versions.

Thanks for your time to read this and thanks in advance to anyone who made the work for some answers and ideas.

Kindest regards from germany,
yours...
