What to do when GSM modem is stuck on a non-data cell? | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Hello,
What can I do if one GSM provider's network is in zombie state?
Meaning GSM modem connects to it, but cannot do GPRS traffic on it, so it just stays on that network, until the provider solves the problem.
Eg. the entire O2 network did this in the UK for a few days, costing us a lot.
Is trere an option to skip that provider and connect to a different one automatically.
I want to avoid manual network search, because it takes >1minute, and in a car the cell towers always change.
My modem: BGST-2
Thank you
Hello,
If the module registers successfully but there is a crash in the operator's network there's probably nothing that could be done automatically by the module. If your subscription can use more than one operator you could implement some logic in your application to switch operator in case of any problems with data sending. But this would come down to manual operator selection. On the other hand such network crashes do not happen so frequently.
