To whomver it may concern:
We are currently testing a new PCB for the EHS5 modem and the testing is done in Europe. Does anybody knows what tests can be done with an EHS5-US modem in Europe to ensure that the radio frequency parts works adequately? THis application is only for TCP/IP and not voice.
thanks in advance,
Leonardo Orellano
Hello,
Here are the bands for EHS5:
EHS5-E:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: Dual band GSM 900/1800MHz
UMTS/HSPA+: Dual band UMTS 900/2100MHz
EHS5-US:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: Dual band GSM 850/1900MHz
UMTS/HSPA+: Dual band UMTS 850/1900MHz
In Europe there are generally different bands used than in America, but please check with your local MNO's.

Hey Bartlomiej, Yes i agree the problem is that we are doing the electronics work in Kiev and would hate to have it shipped to the US and it doesn't work do to bad soldering etc. So i wanted to know what additional tests we can do onsite (Kiev) to confirm that passed the tests. The bands are obviously different but is there an indirect test that can be executed? a special AT command that can be run ?
thanks,
Leo
Hello,
If you would like to test if your hardware is correctly designed you could also use the European version of the module.
For the bad soldering this is not a solution of course.
There is any special command that would check everything in a very simple way. You could use the network simulator to test the US version in Europe. I think that there are also some fields that are not connected with the network activity like hardware interfaces. You can prepare some tests with AT commands or Java MIDlet to check if everything is working.
