Hello,
I try to make a Dialup using the PHS8T modem terminal and a laptop with Windows 7 / 64 bits.
First I connect USB modem port to the laptop, then I install the driver: Cinterion PH8 USB CDC-ACM Modem. Setup a Dialup connection and I can connect to the Internet.
After that I try to make a Dialup connection using RS232 serial port (ASC0). I use AT^SDPORT=2 to make modem interface available on ASC0. Then I connect the ASC0 modem port to the laptop and install the driver: Standard 9600 bps modem driver. In this case Dialup connection do not work ok. Modem is register on the network but the data transfer are not available.
The ASC0 port and USB port it should not behave the same?
Have you any ideea or sugestion?
Best Regards,
Ionel
Hello,
Are you sure that the connection is established successfully? Most of the problems are related to configuration and the connection can't be established. Do you get IP address, gateway, DNS servers etc? Have you tried just a ping to some server?

Hello,
After register in the network, the settings are same, except IP address, which is different.
In case of USB connection, everything work ok, I have ping, I can browsing web server, email etc.
In case of RS232 connection, I do not have ping and also I cannot browsing, email etc.
Have you any suggestions, ideea?
Regards,
Ionel

Hello,
This is strange because the connection must have been established, so there must have been a successful communication over a serial port. That would suggest that all the configuration and the driver should be fine.
Maybe it is somehow related to a firewall in Windows.
On the other hand I've been using Standard 28800 bps Modem - I thought I'd suggest it to you in case you can't establish a connection. But it seems that you can.

Hello,
I turned off the Windows firewall and the modem have same behavior. Registered in the network but no ping, no browsing, email.
If you have another suggestion, please let's me know!

Hello,
I have some news about dialup connection. I managed to monitor serial port and I viewed the following response: "Could not determine remote IP address" and "No network protocols running"
This seems to be the problem. But I do not know, how I can resolve!
What do you thing? Have you any ideea?

Hello,
Seems like an issue during PPP connection establishment. Could you send the complete log?
On the other hand it does work over USB. So maybe it is also worth trying the other modem like Standard 28800 bps Modem.
