MC55i maximum number of profiles | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Hi There,
I'm working on a customer specific solution including the MC55i. I just stumbled upon this remark in the MC55i command set:
The TCP/IP stack of MC55i-W supports one service profile at a time. Trying to run more than one service
profile may result in a blocking of one of these service profiles.
Does this mean, that I can only use 2 tcp/ip connections simultaneously? I need to set up at least 4 of them.
Can anyone help me?
Cheers, Jan
Hello,
Indeed I found such restrictions in the AT spec. It is specified how many profile of a certain type you can define and that only one service profile can be used at a time.
But this is a very old module. I probably haven't seen any such restrictions for the newer and current modules. At the moment I don't have this module to try. If you have one, you can test. I suppose this limitation must be a result of limited resources of this module.
BR,
Bartłomiej
Hi Bartłomiej,
thank you for your response. We tested 4 parallel connections over several days and didn't experience any problems. Our customer for sure would prefer a statement by the module supplier, that our test is valid.
Which modules do you refer here in detail? Could you supply the partnumber or specification?
Best regards, Jan
Hello Jan,
MC55i was introduced around 14 years. It was manufactured for years but as far as I know the production is already stopped now. But still it can be available on stock. I didn't mean any particular module. Please see the current portfolio on Thales website. You shouldn't find such restriction to one running service for any of the module.
As you were able to use 4 sockets at a time without an issue, there is probably any fixed limitation, but some probability that something may happen. So your application should probably be ready to react in such a case.
Best regards,
Bartłomiej
