we using your modem with aplicom hardware. The modem is a EHS5-E with "JRC-1.60.00.jad".
Is it possible to update the jrc application OTA? If yes, where can I download this version?
It should be possible to update JRC via OTAP procedure as it can be installed or updated as any other MIDlet.
But in general you should always update usf and JRC together. JRCs are distributed with firmware usf files. Using a different JRC version can potentially cause some incompatibilities. So you should also check the firmware version with ATI1 command and then find the newer version of both usf and JRC.
Firmware files for the new modules should be published here: https://dz.telit.com/ However for EHS5-E you may not find it there. In such a case please contact your local Telit Cinterion sales or your distributor.
we sometimes have the problem that a NoClassDefFoundException is thrown when starting the applications. This happens very rarely, but every now and then I have a box on my desk. If the error occurs with our application, I can delete our firmware via OTAP Delete by SMS and reinstall it via OTAP SMS. The box then works again. I currently have a box that does the same with the JRC app and I would like to test whether I can also save the box via SMS using OTAP. I also have another box which does not display the JRC app at all via AT^SJAM=4. There, too, it would be worth a test to install the JRC app via OTAP.
Sure, if only reinstallation of JRC solves the problem, it should work over OTAP. Just you need to choose the right version.
The firmware usf file could also be updated remotely if necessary. But an additional implementation in the user application is necessary.
You should be able to find the FOTA example in the example MIDlets that are available in the InstallCD package.
We also published an example here:
the user application is not running because the JRC is not running. So I can only update the JRC.jar OTAP.
I need only the jad and jar of the jrc application.
I can help you get this JRC, but could you paste the "ATI1" answer to make sure which version is correct?
You've got an email.
