Incorrect Location Area Code or modem false indication? | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Good day,
I am asking the registration status of a modem device (Cinterion ELS61) with the commands CREG and CGREG. Both answers say that the device is registered to the network but surprisingly even if the cell identifier is the same for both cases, the location area code it is not! So my question is:
how is it possible that the same cell has 2 location areas?
Here below is the log of the interrogations and answers from device.
Thanks for the attention.
AT+CREG?
+CREG:2,1,“2732”,“006E321F”,7
OK
AT+CeREG?
AT+CeREG?
+CEREG:2,1,“2EFA”,“006E321F”,7
Hello,
The module is in LTE so the more appropriate command in this case is AT+CEREG. Did you check both commands more ***** to check if the replies change in time? Maybe you caught the moment of tracking area update. Please also check AT^SMONI output.

Maybe you are right, but it remains the fact that the 2 commands gave the same name to a cell with different location areas. If the opposite could happen, this one not, in my understanding. If there had been a handover to another cell between CREG and CEREG commands, then the cell name (correctly the cell ID) would have changed, as there can not be 2 different cells with the same cell ID, can there?
Hello,
In general I agree with you that one of the outputs most probably does not reflect the current state. That's why I was interested if this is reproducible and if so if it is only a short moment or the module can report such state for a longer period. And What AT^SMONI replies.
As the appropriate command for LTE registration status is AT+CEREG I suppose that it's reply is correct and AT^SMONI output should confirm it.
Would it be also possible to pass the ATI1 reply?
Regards,
Bartłomiej
