What is the easiest way to send a text mode SMS from a Java application?
Is it necessary to use AT commands or is there a more elegant way?

Hello Antero,
there is no Java API for sending SMS so you need to do this over AT commands. Here is a great example regarding how to receive an SMS in Java:

Hi,
this is an interesting example. However probably lines 10 and 11 are not needed as ctrl+z character is already sent in line 8 and no RspListener class definition is provided.

Sry that RsPListener is declared outside this function and is global. But you are probably right on both things.
