EMS31 CCIO pull-up resistor needed or not? | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

The EMS31 lists a 4.7K pull-up resistor between the CCVCC and CCIO line. But the diagram that shows how the future MIM chip support would be internally connected, it shows an internal pull-up as DNI. So my question, is the 4.7K resistor needed when an external USIM is used? Or only when an external SIM card is used? Or always needed (and the diagram I see of the MIM chip is incorrect)?
