Hello gemalto,
I have connected a microcontroller to the Developer board with the EHS6 module on. Im working on a battery dependent application so i need the board to be active as short as possible.
When the Module is powered up im waiting for the +PBREADY URC on the TX-pin. But i think it takes really long time before the simcard is connected to the network. During tests i measured it to be between 30-35 seconds.
- Is there document where i can see the power up timings? Java kernel, simcard etc.
- does the java kernel take alot of time to power up?
- is it possible to disable the java kernel and enabling it when i need it?
Hello,
First thing that you see is SYSLOADING which means that the system is loading and when you see SYSSTART it means that the system is operational. However there are still some actions in the background. SYSSTART also means that the factory JRC MIDlet has been started. Some of the module features are implemented in this MIDlet. The PBREADY URC means that the module has completed reading data from the SIM card. And this time may depend on the number of entries stored in the phonebook or short messages. During my test with the module on my desk it took around 7-8 seconds to get PBREADY. After that the module is able to register to the network. You need to configure AT+CREG=2 to get the network registration URC. You cannot decide if the Java VM is started or not. I can't see the exact timings in the hardware description document.
