Current consumption difference between EGS5 and BG5 | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Hi,
We have a custom board which used to contain EGS5. As it is now obsolete, We would like to replace it with BGS5. Can someone help us to understand whether BGS5 is preferable replacement of EGS5 in terms of power & current ?
Just a background We were using EGS5 2 UARTs for communicating and Antenna for transmitting data.
Please suggest.
Thanks.

Hello,
EHS5 module belongs to an old family. So there will be some differences. BGS5 has a different footprint and some electrical characteristics may be also different. Here you can find hardware interface description for BGS5 and some other modules: https://iot-developer.thalesgroup.com/documentation/download-documentati...
Both EGS5 and BGS5 have 2 serial interfaces and support Java. Please see the BGS5 referene desigh here: https://iot-developer.thalesgroup.com/documentation/example-schematic-eh...
I think that the module type you choose depends on what you need - please see here to browse the portfolio: https://www.gemalto.com/m2m/solutions/modules-terminals
To get the complete offer that would also include the financial aspects it would be the best choice to contact your local technical sales - you can find one here https://www.gemalto.com/m2m/where-to-buy
