ELS61-US Error whilst setting up dialup connection | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Hi,
I've been trying to setup a ELS61-US board in Windows 7 had many different issues;
I have followed the CD instructions through multiple ***** and reinstalled the setup more ***** than i care to imagine and still am no closer to being able to run the test projects on the board.
My issue now is when i try to connect to the module via a dial up connection (Setup via the CD) I get the following error;
Error 692: There was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connection device).

Not sure what the next steps are as i've also had other issues including error 734 ppp errors etc. it seems anything i do i run into issue after issue.
Hi,
Do you have properly installed drivers? You can check it in Device Manager.
I don't think I've ever seen this error in the context of on device debugging form Eclipse or Netbeans. Could you please provide more details? There was some issues with Windows 10 or 8 but with Windows 7 everything should works fine.
Do you see a MES in "My Computer" and can you go there? (Eg. put some file inside your module).
All drivers are installed when i plug in I have the following devices appear;
Modems
Cinterion BGSx Java Debug Modem Ser
Cinterion EHSx Java Debug Modem Ser
Cinterion ELSx Java Debug Modem Ser
Cinterion PDSxJava Debug Modem Ser
Cinterion BGSx Java Debug Modem Ser
Cinterion ELSx USB Modem
Serial Ports
Cinterion ELSx do_not_use
Cinterion ELSx USB Com Port1
Cinterion ELSx USB Com Port2
Cinterion ELSx USB Com Port3
USB Serial Port
Mes is installed but when i launch and click browse it hangs for a minute or 2 then i get presented with a popup that states ' There is no connection. Please make sure that the module and the pc are correctly onnected to one another' Which they are as all is showing up in device manager.
Hi,
To launch MES you should click right mouse button and select "Properties" then select "Port" and choose one of your ports like: Cinterion ELSx USB Com Port1.
First of all you should to check if module can communicate with you by using some terminal like "ZOC" or "YAT terminal".
There is hard to say what happen. Your Error 692 is from Eclipse or Netbeans?
Regards,
Krzysztof
Did anybody solve this issue?
I'm on Win 7 64bits.
I'm trying to use USB for ELS61-E debugging but I keep getting error 692 when trying to establish the connection (You can get the error is you try to connect from "Network and sharing Center" (Control Panel)
When trying to establish the debugging connection I'm getting this:
Using USB port COM14.
Connecting to module...
Initializing module for debugging...
Establishing "IP connection for remote debugging of ELSx"...
Passing control to external device emulator...
No se abre el puerto especificado.
(Can't open specified port in spanish)
Establishment of TCP/IP connection failed!
Check the COM connection and dial up network parameters!

I tried to uninstall several *****.
I even used cleanup utilities to ensure there are no leftovers for old drivers or SDKs, but it's no use.
(Note: Debugging via serial port works fine, but I need that port free for my applet.)
(Note2: I can access USB COM ports just fine. Only having issues with USB debugging)
Any advice will be very welcome I'm pretty desperate at this point.
Hello,
If it works over serial port, some of the potential causes like firewall can be already ruled out. The configuration seems also fine. Are you sure that the port is not opened in terminal for instance at the same time? Is there correct debug modem set for the debug connection?

Bartłomiej
Hi,
apparently an addon to Windows Explorer (QTTabbar) was causing the issue.
It's pretty odd because it just added tabs to the File Explorer, but at least the problem is now gone.
I found out when I noticed that access to Module Disk (A:) crashed the File Explorer.
Hello,
Thank you for the information.
Great that the problem is solved! Indeed the module's file system access also works over USB or RS232.
Regards,
Bartłomiej
