Universal method to establish PLS8 IP connectivity | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Hi,
We're working with the PLS8 modem as an LTE upgrade to one of our tracking products that currently uses the PHS8. Unlike 3G with the PHS8, in activating a PDP context the use of AT+CGACT does not seem to be recommeded for the PLS8 when registered on an LTE network. We're hoping there might be a sequence of AT commands to estalish IP connectivity that works for 3G as well as LTE rather than having to have separate firmware routines for the two modes and select one or the other based on how the modem is currently registered to the network. Can anyone please tell me if this is possible and if there is example code somewhere showing how to do that?
Thank you,
Ed
Hello,
It is recommended to enable auto-attach instead of manual context activation with AT+CGACT. It also works for 3G. The context ***** to be activated so that the module could register to LTE. There is the chapter "Attaching to LTE Networks and Registering to IMS" in AT commands specification that covers the specifics of LTE network.
Generally establishing data connection should work in a same way for 3G and 4G.
Do you have any particular problems already? Can you paste a log to show how you currently set up the data connection? Please add ATI1 reply.
Best regards,
Bartłomiej
Hi Bartłomiej,
Thank you for your advice. We have 4G IP connectivity and now that it's working that's raised an additional question in starting up A-GPS but I'll post that to another thread since it's not related to this one.
All the best,
Ed
