PLS8-E + AH6, Not able to register to network | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community
February 25, 2019 - 3:54pm, 4990 views
Hello,
Iknow there is a similiar thread regarding PLS8-E and AH6 but it does not contain any useful information so I'm starting a new thread.
My setup:
*2x PLS8-E eval modules
*DSBmini + AH6
My connection setup is identical with :
https://iot-developer.thalesgroup.com/threads/pls8-cannot-get-network
except that I'm using both antennas.
Problem:
None of my modules are able to register to the network, i can see with AT^SMONI that they find a cell, but somehow they are not able to connect to it.
I will post some debugg information in hopes that someone can help me!

Hello,
Please send AT+CPIN?, ATI1 and also AT+COPS=? to scan available networks.
Please delete context 1 with AT+CGDCONT and enable auto-attach with AT^SCFG="GPRS/AutoAttach" command - this should help to also register to LTE.
Regards,
Bartłomiej

Changed Auto attach and cgdcont, still facing the same issue.
The UFL connectors on the PLS8-E eval module are not connected to anything right? I tried using external antenna connectors and the B80 without any results.

Hello,
SIM card is ready and your SMONI output suggests that the antenna is connected correctly. If you use eval modules the antenna cables should be connected to AH6 adapter - main antenna to the left connector and MIMO antenna to the right connector.
However on the COPS output I can see that all the detected networks have status 'forbidden'. That explains why there is 'LIMSRV' on SMONI output.
Please make sure that the SIM card is valid.
Best regards,
Bartłomiej
Hello,
I have tested with three different SIM-cards, including my personal SIM-card and they all give the same result.
SIM-card 1(Tele2):
at+COPS=?
+COPS: (3,"Telenor SE","TelenorS","24008",2),(3,"Sweden Mobile","MobileS","24024",0),(3,"3 SE","3 SE","24002",2),(3,"3 SE","3 SE","24002",7),(3,"Tele2","Tele2 SE","24007",7),(3,"Telenor SE","TelenorS","24008",7),,(0,1,2,3,4),(0,1,2)
SIM-card:2 (Telia)
at+cops=?
+COPS: (1,"Tele2","Tele2 SE","24007",7),(1,"Telenor SE","TelenorS","24008",2),(1,"Sweden Mobile","MobileS","24024",0),(1,"3 SE","3 SE","24002",2),(1,"3 SE","3 SE","24002",7),(1,"Telenor SE","TelenorS","24008",7),(1,"TELIA S","TELIA","24001",7),,(0,1,2,3,4),(0,1,2)
According to manual, the Telia SIM-card should work since all found cells have status "1"

Hello,
So the second SIM should be working and the first one should not.
Please check AT+CGDCONT if there is any APN for context 1. Please also try to force 2G or 3G with AT+COPS=,,,0 or AT+COPS=,,,2.
Please check AT+CEER output.
As for LTE you should use AT+CEREG instead of AT+CREG.

Bartłomiej
Hello,
Perhaps that is a different issue but it is still very strange that some SIM-cards does not work with PLS8-E?
I can use it with ELS61/PLS62-W/BGSX/EHSx etc..
Anyway, still not able to register to network:

Hello,
If the module shows the networks as available it should be able to register. Please send at+cops=0 to be sure that automatic mode is enabled. It is strange if the first SIM card works in other device. You can also try the manual network selection with COPS command.
For LTE please check also at+cgpaddr, at+cgact?, at+cgatt? commands. ^SCFG: "GPRS/AutoAttach" should be"enabled".
Anyway if the module still fails to register I think that you can report it to Gemalto support - maybe these modules need to be verified.

Bartłomiej
