Hi there,
we are currently working on a design with the PLS8-E Evaluation modul.
Unfortunately the GSM modem reboots after we are entering the PIN via the AT command.
Any ideas are very welcome!
Thanks
Thomas, Kofax Austria
Hello,
You don't need to configure anything before sending the PIN. You might try to check the "SIM/CS" parameter of AT^SCFG command which chooses the SIM interface.
But I think that the reason of the problem might be in the hardware connections. Have you connected all the necessary lines according to the Hardware Interface Description document for the module? Could you paste any schematics of the module connections?
Best regards,
Bartłomiej
Hello,
We have only connected the lines in my post from yesterday. The RS232 connection works perfect. We have also connected PWR_IND with 100k to BAT++. VUSB_IN to GND, INT to GND, AGND to GND and the SIM connection to the holder on the Eval-Board.
SCFG returns:

Hello,
And how about the BATT+ lines - are all of them connected?
Can you paste a picture of your installation?
Regards,
Bartłomiej
Hello.
All BATT+ lines are connected. Here is our setup.
Regards,
Thomas
Hello,
Thank you for the picture.
I think that the problem might be in the thickness of the power cables - for the BATT+ and GND the thicker cable should be used - on your picture there is a thin cables for GND - maybe that's the reason.
Additionally the connector where you have probably connected the antenna is for HSIC interface.
I can also see that you are using the board for MC55 - this module has 5V serial lines, while PLS8 has 1.8V.
Best regards,
Bartłomiej
Hello,
thanks for the hints!
We have level matched the serial lines and everything else you have mentioned! Same issue as before.
Does the Eval-Modul work only in combination with an Eval-board? Standalone mode nit supported?
Any ideas are very welcome!
Thanks
Thomas
Hello,
And have you tried to connect the oscilloscope to the BATT+ on the module side after the cable changing?
My HW college is pretty sure that it must be the cables problem.
The both U.FL connectors are not for the antenna. The main antenna would be on your picture the bottom right Pogo connector on the edge of the board near the shielding.
On the other hand are you sure that you have connected the SIM interface lines correctly?
Regards,
Bartłomiej
