Cinterion MC55i reports "SIM not inserted" after several use | Telit Cinterion IoT Developer Community

Good morning,
We are integrating MC55i in a system based of a Fujitsu RX100 Server equipped with Windows 2008 Server. This appliance is intended to work H24/7days. The purpose is to send SMS to well known recipients when a specified event is reported on the server.
After 1/2 days of normal working (or in other cases in some randomic time) the modem reports "CME Error: SIM not inserted" and the LED is blinking 1 second (no registered to network). Obviously the SIM card is still inside the modem and nobody touched it. To solve the problem We have to restart the entire server and re-power the modem. Sim cards used are provided by "Vodafone IT"
Do You have any suggestions/requests of details?
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I've got this situation: for an hardware configuration (that at the moment I can't modify it), my device normally provides 2V to the MC55i (in this period time the modem isn't used).
Every day it is switched on for some seconds (in this period time, the modem power supply rises @ 4V) to communicate via GPRS.
In some devices I meet the problem of "SIM NOT INSERTED"
I'd like to know how can I solve this situation, because I can solve it only moving/removing the SIM.
Some questions:
What can I do something via firmware to solve it (please, consider that I can't remove the power supply)?
Thank you Bests
Lorenzo
Hello,
Generally the power should be cut off when the module is turned off. Leaving 2V could cause some unexpected behaviour or damage.
This 2V could be the cause of your problem. But the SIM tray connection hardware could also be the case. You should refer to the hardware description for details. The lines should not be too long.
If removing and inserting the SIM helps that could mean that changing the state of CCIN line which detects the SIM card could also do the same.
How about the module reset - does it also help?
If you want to reset the module you should consider the software reset first. Emergency off or hardware reset is rather for emergency or if the software reset is not possible. Only software reset guaranties that the module will be properly switched off.
