Hi,
Can I use Arduino Ethernet shield to provide Ethernet connection to the Cinterion Concept Board? If yes, is there any tutorial or documentation?
Many Thanks in advance.
Eric.
Hello,
Cinterion concept board is intended for GPRS/HSDPA connections. Gemalto does not provide any documentation for connections with Arduino Ethernet Shield. There is an SPI interface on board but I don't know if it is possible to connect Arduino Ethernet Shield to anything else than Arduino Board and if Arduino publish any documentation for this connection.
If this would be possible you would have to implement some communications protocol.
Best regards,
Bartłomiej
Hi Bartłomiej,
ESH6 LAN module has an Ethernet port implemented. If I want to add an ethernet port to the concept board, how can I do so? How can I turn this modem into a Router capable of providing basic networking? Thanks in advance.
Eric.
Hello Eric,
EHS6 LAN terminal has indeed an Ethernet port.
The solution would probably depend on what you would like to achieve. The real powerful router is not so simple thing.
It ***** to service many connections, has DHCP server, some configurations, other features like firewall etc.
So you would probably need a dedicated hardware for that: some powerful enough processor, memory, Ethernet controller... And then you would use EHS6 as a modem. So you would need to connect it via USB for example, use AT commands to establish a connection and then involve some PPP stack implementation to establish and maintain the connection.
For a simple and not demanding solution to just connect one device to the internet via LAN interface and if the throughput is not so important you might try to connect some Ethernet controller to the module directly via some interface and try to implement everything in Java on the module. Still you would need some PPP stack implementation (for Java in this case).
EHS6 LAN terminal is something in between - there's a dedicated processor on the board that controls the LAN interface and the module.
Best regards,
Bartłomiej
EHS6 LAN sounds great but if I'm correctly informed this terminal is still not yet available and the release date is still unclear. Can you maybe cleariffy this?
Hello,
Currently there is no official information abut the release date of EHS6 LAN terminal.
